Welcome to our exquisite lodge, a haven for nature enthusiasts who yearn for tranquility and a vibrant array of birdlife. Located just 55 km from Knysna, our lodge offers an idyllic escape where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, bask in the warmth of the sun, and inhale the crisp, rejuvenating mountain air.

One of the most captivating experiences we offer is the art of fly-fishing in our pristine rivers and tranquil dams. Here, you can chase the elusive rainbow and brown trout as you embrace the serenity of the surroundings. After a leisurely stroll across our peaceful farm or a refreshing dip in our mountain water pool, you can embark on an invigorating hike or take an exhilarating bike ride amidst the refreshing mountain breeze.

If fly-fishing doesn't ignite your passion, fear not. Ascend the Kwaai River, where you will be captivated by ancient bushman paintings, enchanted by crystal-clear water pools, and captivated by nature's unspoiled majesty. For those who relish the thrill of mountain biking, challenge yourself to conquer the mountain or venture along the Prince Alfred Pass, each offering breathtaking vistas of either Knysna or Uniondale.

Our lodge boasts four exquisitely appointed, self-catering log cabins that can accommodate up to six guests each. Two cabins are nestled beside a stocked trout dam, while the other two are perched above the farm, providing awe-inspiring views of the mountain pass and the lush valleys below. Privacy is paramount, with ample space between each cabin.

Inside these cabins, you will find a semi-equipped kitchen, a luxurious main en-suite bedroom with a queen-size bed and shower, a second bedroom with two comfortable three-quarter beds, and a second bathroom complete with a lavish shower and bath. In the lounge area, a cozy sleeper couch awaits, accompanied by a charming ceramic fireplace - perfect for cozying up during those chilly winter nights. Step outside onto your expansive deck, complete with a table and chairs, and indulge in a delicious feast prepared on your Weber braai. To ensure the utmost comfort, all linen and bath towels are provided.

Embark on an extraordinary adventure at Camp Gwaai, our enchanting haven nestled within a pecan tree forest. Comprising four spacious Indian (teepee) tents, this camp is the epitome of bliss, catering to individuals, couples, families, and both small and large groups. The communal facilities foster a sense of camaraderie and provide opportunities for meaningful interactions. Rest assured, the tents are thoughtfully spaced from the entertainment area, guaranteeing unparalleled privacy.

Each tent boasts four cozy three-quarter beds adorned with sumptuous cotton linen, an extra blanket for added warmth, soft shower towels, and even hot water bottles to ward off the chill of winter nights. For your convenience, a ceramic wood-burning fireplace awaits, ensuring a cozy ambiance throughout your stay. A short distance away, you will find your own private bathroom, complete with a refreshing hot shower and flush toilet.

The Best! by

For a number of years we have been staying over at self-catering accommodation and are familiar with many places. Outeniqua Trout Lodge we rate amongst the very top few. We experienced the coastal forest, mountains and the Karroo within a few kilometers, the cleanliness was unbeatable!
