Total lack of security by

On 13/01/2022, at 2.00 am we heard people outside our unit forcing the window open and as we got up we saw 4 young men breaking the window frame. A fight ensued and I was hut with a sharp object and beaten with sticks. Eventually 4 men entered in the room and hit me in the head an I fell. The room was ransacked, valuables passed to other people waiting outside and stolen. Despite our screams there was nobody else in the property, no burglar bars, no dogs, no security staff of any type. Deserted! I had to phone to a cell phone number for somebody to come and call the police! We made the case number with the police, but we lost property and I was hurt. Due to the lack of basic security we left the premises immediately. We are yet to receive an apology, or any signs of concern from the owners, disgusting! It should be mandatory that a minimum standard of security (not just a locked door) is offered at any guest house to protect guests, who usually are not familiar with the security risks of many of the popular touristic places. I suggest that SafariNow should demand such security measures and they should be listed much like the availability of wifi or air conditioning in the room. After reviewing the news of the area, security has been a problem in the Addo area, so guest house owners should ensure that experiences like mine's do not happen again. Nicolas Novitzky
