The lodge takes its name from ?The Amphitheatre," the most famous geographic feature of the Northern Drakensberg, South Africa. The Amphitheatre is widely regarded as one of the most impressive cliff faces on earth.
The lodge looks directly onto its facade and on a clear day, after the rains, the Tugela Falls can be seen as it plunges one kilometre down the ancient rock face.
Dorms are easy on the wallet but have everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay, sprung mattresses, clean linen, en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and self?catering kitchens (most kitchens are communal ).
Many are constructed in the "pod" style where each person has their own private space complete with safe. Rooms are shared with up to eight members of the public and are mixed-gender.
